It’s interesting when you drive a Jeep and pass someone else in one. They give the wave, tip of cap or “the nod”. As anyone will tell you - there’s nothing cooler than getting the nod when you’re driving. With a Jeep it makes you want to turn right around and head for the dunes, mud or just bumpy roads. I get it. And the 2013 Wrangler Unlimited is 100% Jeep.

If you’ve never driven a Jeep before, it’s a different feel. The Wrangler Unlimited Sahara comes with a 3.6 liter V6 24-valve engine that gives you 285hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The torque of a Jeep is powerful...I’d be concerned if I was driving one and it didn’t feel that way.

Taking the soft top all the way down was easy, and the sensation of cruising down the road with the wind blowing is exhilarating (although I didn’t have the guts to take the doors

Mileage averaged 18mph (21 on the highway) but the Jeep had a nice freeway power band (can’t stand a vehicle that isn’t able to figure out what gear it needs when going 70)

You’re going to find more “bells and whistles” on the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara (it comes in around $37k) - everything from power locks and windows, Alpine sound system and much more.

But at the end of the day, the Jeep is about that nod. Joining that Jeep club. It’s a cool group of people, and the Wrangler Unlimited is perfect for them. I wonder if there’s a pledge initiation? Hope it involves sand, dirt and water.
