Foreigner Unveil 40th Anniversary Tour Dates

Foreigner will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its debut album this year with a summer tour joined by Cheap Trick and Jason Bonham -- who played drums for Foreigner from 2004-2008.

The trek kicks off July 11 in Syracuse and will play 37 dates running through September 9. Tickets go on sale Friday (January 13) via LiveNation.com.

Foreigner founder Mick Jones also tells us that some of Foreigner's original members will be returning to the fold for select shows during the tour:

"Some of the old members of the band, Ian McDonald and Al Greenwood, Lou Gramm is coming to do a song or two on the summer tour...so I’m looking forward to that, and we'll see how it goes. And I'm sure it'll go down well."

Jones says he's confident the tour itself will be a musical success, too:

"Y'know, I've been friendly with the Cheap Trick, the cheap Tricksters, for many years, in fact right back to our first headline tour in maybe, probably '78, '79, and they're a great band. I have so much respect for them...and I think it’s gonna be a great show, a lot of energy and a real evening of rock...It couldn't actually be a better mix for me. It's almost like a family tour."

Foreigner will also be playing U.S. dates starting Jan. 30, with a European tour beginning May 20 in Switzerland. A two-disc, 40-track anniversary compilation with some brand new material is planned, while Jones will be publishing his memoir, A Foreigner's Tale, due out this spring.
