It's been pretty damn good to be Donald Glover.
From reportedly being pinned as the next voiceover for Simba in the Lion King remake to winning a Golden Globe for his original series Atlanta, Glover has continued to make the entertainment industry his mistress. And now, the rapper/actor/writer is set to take the helm for the upcoming FXX animated series Deadpool.
According to Collider.com, FXX announced that an untitled Deadpool animated series is coming to the network channel. Glover will team up with his brother, Stephen Glover, to create the series after the two teamed up as executive producers/creators for the FXX show Atlanta.
Nick Grad, co-president of original programming at FX networks, said about the show, “Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who’ll bring the untitled Marvel’s Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta. With the success of Legion, we’re looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original.”
Marvel executive producer Jeph Loeb went on to give high praise to Glover saying, “How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth!”
Not even Childish Gambino could have rapped it better.
