DEEP PURPLE — which has been eligible for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for two decades now — finally entered the Rock Hall as part of the class of 2016. The band's first three lineups were inducted, including drummer Ian Paice, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, late keyboardist Jon Lord, and various singers and bassists — Rod Evans; Ian Gillan and Roger Glover; and David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes.
Alice Cooper was on a roll in 1971. Teaming with Canadian producer Bob Ezrin, the band had returned to its Detroit roots (literally and figuratively), working hard to simplify its sound for maximum impact. The first result was “I’m Eighteen,” a big hit for the Coopers from the Love It to Death album, released in February of 1971, and they kept it going later on Nov. 27 of that year with Killer. Now Cooper is iconic for his look, work, and his spirit to rock!
