  The only two living members of The Beatles: Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have been rocking solo since The Beatles' reign ended in 1970.

  After being fired from Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne began a successful career of his own in 1979, releasing his first solo album, Blizzard of Ozz.

  Neil Young went solo after Buffalo Springfield, he soon joined Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, but went back to solo work and has been releasing solo albums since.

  Eric Clapton spent most of the '60s in bands, like: The Yardbirds, Cream and Derek and the Dominos. His solo career took off with his self-titled debut album in 1970.

  Eagles' founders, Don Henley and Glenn Frey, began successful solo careers in the early '80s after the band broke up. And although Joe Walsh was solo before joining the Eagles in 1975, his solo career didn't take off until 1978.

  Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac together in 1975. The two each released their first solo albums in 1981: Bella Donna and Law and Order.

  Led Zeppelin broke up in 1980, following the death of their drummer. In 1982, Robert Plant began his solo career with the album Pictures at Eleven.
