Carl Palmer Receiving “Prog God” Award

As the last man standing in Emerson, Lake & Palmer, drummer Carl Palmer will receive the Prog God award at this year's Progressive Music Awards, taking place during September in London.

Palmer is being honored for his work not only with ELP but also Atomic Rooster and Asia, as well as his continuing ELP Legacy show.

In a statement, Palmer says that, "This is a fantastic award to have and I feel very honoured, but I also feel a little bit sad that Keith Emerson and Greg Lake, who both died last year, aren't here as well."

Emerson committed suicide on March 11, 2016 in California, while Lake died from cancer on December 7.

Previous Prog God recipients include Peter Gabriel, Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman of Yes, Genesis keyboardist Tony Banks and Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson.

Palmer is taking his ELP Legacy show on the road again as part of Yes' Yestival tour, which begins Friday (August 4) in North Carolina.
