LAS VEGAS, NV - SEPTEMBER 22: Singer Steven Tyler (L) and guitarist Brad Whitford of Aerosmith perform onstage during the 2012 iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on September 22, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Though no new album plans have been announced, Aerosmith apparently has a new song in the hopper.

Guitarist Brad Whitford tells Billboard Argentina that the group “did some recording while we were touring in Europe, and we started recording a new song…in London…The song is a musical idea of Joe Perry‘s. We’re doing it very much like we did songs back when we started out.”

Whitford describes the track as “very rock ‘n’ roll.” Whitford gave no indication of when the song would be finished or released, but he did not that, “You don’t have to record a whole CD anymore. So, hopefully, we can put out this one song or two or three.”

Aerosmith is touring South America and Mexico through October 7, and despite reports of a farewell tour Whitford says that, “Hopefully there’s five more years. It’s got longer. We’re going to keep playing until we can’t play anymore.”
