More Tributes For Tom Petty
SAN DIEGO, CA - AUGUST 03: Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers kick off their summer 2014 tour in support of their latest album 'Hypnotic Eye' at Viejas Arena on August 3, 2014 in San Diego, California.
All of last week and over the weekend we have seen a lot of tributes to Tom Petty, but non cooler than these two!
Jason Aldean showed up on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, and opened the show with some comments about Las Vegas. Then he played “I Won’t Back Down” by Tom Petty . . . only six days after the Vegas shooter shot and killed 59 people while he was performing. He wasn’t the musical guest . . . that was Sam Smith. So this was a special appearance to open the show, instead of a skit.
Tom Petty was from Gainesville, Florida, where the University of Florida is. And when the Gators played a home game against LSU on Saturday, the whole stadium sang “I Won’t Back Down” before the fourth quarter.
Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf!
Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
