The 22-song show features material from that set as well as previous solo and Police favorites, and it showcases the smaller band (five musicians plus, for this show, three backing vocalists, including Sting's son Joe Sumner) that accompanied him on the road this year.
Sting tells us that,
"In some ways (it's) easier because there's less bandleading to do. I don't have to organize space as much because it's just naturally a function of a smaller group being there. With no keyboards, less of the frequencies are taken up, so there's a lot of space. We'll miss the occasional arrangement thing with not having a larger band, but I think that'll be made up for by the space that's created."
57th & 9th debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 when it was released a year ago and was Sting's first "rock" album in 13 years.
