Now that he's 70, Sammy Hagar will slow down -- so he can stick around longer.

Talking to a Detroit radio station (WRIF), he says, “I wanna be the oldest living rock star on the planet one day. Every day you see somebody else going — Malcolm Young and stuff — so I'm thinking, I'm gonna preserve myself, maybe put the brakes on a little bit -- start drinking a little bit later and finish up a little bit earlier , and all those things. You know: eat right, keep myself healthy, keep exercising. And I'm serious — I would love to be the oldest living rock star on earth someday."

Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Brian Wilson, David Crosby, Graham Nash and The Rolling Stones are all older than Hagar.

Sammy Hagar on why he works at the pace he does. OC:...all connected. :14

"I have to stay active 'cause I love it. If I stop my creativity dries up. If I keep going and keep active, man I get ideas and ding, ding, ding, one thing leads to another -- it's like a genetic chain, you know, creativity. So I keep it all connected."
