The former leader of KISS told The Pulse of Radio it was kind of like the lottery: you have to be in it to win it.
Simmons picked up the phone one day and called Dylan's manager, saying he wanted to write a song with the legend.
Simmons received laughter on the other side of the phone, but then, he said, two days later a driver in an unmarked car pulled up.
Dylan emerged from the car with an acoustic guitar and he and Simmons wrote songs.
A 15-minute clip of the recording session is included on Simmons' recent compendium, which sells for $2,000, which is not available at stores, and which Simmons is hand-delivering to fans who buy it.
