Gibson CEO Blames Guitar Stores For Financial Woes
Iconic guitar maker Gibson is reportedly facing bankruptcy, and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz is pointing fingers at retailers.
In an interview with Billboard, Juskiewicz says brick-and-mortar guitar stores are “just panicking” over the rise of e-commerce.
He criticized music stores for being ‘unfriendly’ and keeping the guitars out of reach.
He also said stores lose customers by focusing on hard-core musicians rather than parents or more casual customers.
Juskiewicz says Gibson has protected their retail customers by refusing to have an online store, but that will likely change soon.
