Alice Cooper credits his relationship with God for saving him from dying young like many of his contemporaries.

Cooper was diagnosed as a "classic alcoholic" after being admitted for throwing up blood. When released, he decided never to drink again.

The 70-year-old rocker explained that he had gotten as far from the church as he cool when he was younger and almost died, so he came back. He says he has never been unfaithful to his wife of 42 years, does Bible study daily and goes to church every Sunday.

Alice Cooper will play the role of King Herod in Sunday's live performance of "Jesus Christ Superstar" on NBC.
