“That was a ballad that I wrote that Henley and Frey carefully nurtured into becoming something. But that was a high point for me, having come from, ‘Hey, here’s this kick-ass guitarist’ – getting a chance to actually say, ‘I can write pretty stuff, too,’ and having it be loved.”
