A teenage fan of Weezer started a campaign on Twitter with the account @weezerafrica to get the band to cover Toto’s “Africa” just to see if she could. Over 300 tweets later, Weezer obliged and covered “Africa”.
The cover has been such a sensation that Weezer performed it on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night and were joined by Toto keyboardist Steve Porcaro, who provided the song’s bridge solo during the performance.
Don’t we all feel blessed by this performance? I finally feel like I know how the rains down in Africa felt after all these years.
