Joe Walsh Rips The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame
Joe Walsh was caught on the streets by TMZ yesterday and gave his thoughts on this years nominations…
With this week’s announcement of the nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019 comes the screams from fans of such arguably qualified acts as:
- Foreigner
- Boston
- Pat Benatar
- Bad Company
- Doobie Brothers
- Styx
- REO Speedwagon
- Phil Collins
- Jethro Tull
- Joe Cocker
- Jimmy Buffett
But what the general public needs to know is the Rock Hall, like many awards ceremonies, is a political minefield. Just ask Joe … Joe Walsh, who was inducted with the Eagles in 1998.

- Some of the political maneuvering that has taken place over the years includes The Grateful Dead saying either all the members from throughout their career go in or they would boycott the ceremony. The Hall agreed, which meant keyboardist Vince Welnick was inducted after only being in the band less than four years.
- When KISS went was inducted in 2014 they wanted all their members to be recognized but the Hall said it would only be the four founding members.
- Sources tell us Paul McCartney was promised induction in 1995 if he gave the induction speech for John Lennon in 1994. He did, but then was not put on the ballot until 1998 and inducted in 1999. McCartney also had to work behind-the-scenes in 2014 to get Ringo Starr nominated and inducted in 2015.
- And Steve Miller, who, when inducted in 2016, ripped into the Hall, saying in part that the Hall “needs to respect the artists they say they’re honoring, which they don’t.”
Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf!
Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
