Tom Petty Honored In His Hometown
It’s been one year since Tom Petty passed away, and the songwriting legend will be honored this weekend in his hometown of Gainesville, Florida.
Gainesville is hosting not one, but two Petty-themed festivals this weekend – the ‘Tom Petty Weekend’ and the ‘Tom Petty Birthday Bash’, both filled with local bands and Petty tributes galore.
A previously unreleased Petty song called “Gainesville” is the lead single from the new Petty box set An American Treasure. This Saturday would have been Petty’s 67th birthday.
