In 1992, Clapton lost his son Conor when he fell through the window of a 53-floor high rise apartment. The death of his son inspired the hit song Tears In Heaven.
In the book Slowhand: The Life and Music of Eric Clapton, the 73-year-old remembers seeing his son following his death. “I remember looking at his beautiful face in repose and thinking, ‘This isn’t my son. It looks a bit like him, but he’s gone.'”
