Jimmy Page Teams Up With Fender For Signature Telecasters
Many photos have been snapped of Jimmy Page standing on stage with a Les Paul slung over his shoulders, but few realize that when Led Zeppelin started, he actually used a Fender Telecaster.
Page carried the guitar over from his Yardbirds days, using it to record their debut album and playing it until Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, who was then in the James Gang, sold Page what he later dubbed his “Number 1” in 1969.
Fender has teamed up with the guitar virtuoso to recreate that famous Tele in celebration of Zeppelin’s 50th anniversary.
Page gives his stamp of approval on the guitar manufacturer’s attention to detail, saying, “They really got it 110 percent right, or 150 percent right. It’s so absolutely as it is, as it should be, and as it was.”
