Lerynne West, of Redfield, Iowa was all smiles as she accepted her winning Powerball check, but that check nearly never came...

On October 26th, West, was with her sister when she bought a lottery ticket while grabbing a bite to eat and some coffee. When they got back in her sisters truck she thought she had put the tickets back in her purse..She was wrong.

After the Powerball numbers came out, she didn't event think to check her tickets until one friend called to let her know that someone won in Iowa, Lerynne went to check her ticket but the tickets were not in her purse...

West said, she called her sister who found them on the floor of her truck and sent her a picture of the numbers. When West checked them against the winning numbers, she was in disbelief.

"I said to my sister, 'Get that ticket, get in your truck and get up here now -- and drive slow,'"

A now-retired health care analyst, West said her winnings would ensure her grandchildren were able to afford college and that she could take care of her family, including seven siblings and her mother.

She said her family had also established the Callum Foundation, named after a grandson who was born prematurely and died a day later, to help others in need.

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
