Judas Priest Guitar Fetches Nearly $200K At Auction
Someone really wanted K.K. Downing’s guitar and apparently was ready for a bidding war on Tuesday. The mystery buyer dropped $189,000 on the iconic instrument.
Auction house Bonhams expected the 1967 Flying V, which was used by the guitarist on several of Judas Priest’s classic albums, would fetch about $19,000-$23,000, but it wound up bringing in ten times that amount.
Downing also sold a few other of his axes, including a 1971 Gibson Flying V Medallion, which also brought in well above the original estimates.
Other items Downing let go were some amplifiers, guitar effects, and his leather jackets from the “Turbo” and “Screaming For Vengeance” tours.
