This means your Fortnite account could have been hacked. The exploit was discovered last November 2018; as of now, the issue has been resolved.
A spokesperson for Epic Games released a statement and encouraged its users to keep their information private and never reuse a password.
"We were made aware of the vulnerabilities and they were soon addressed. We thank Check Point for bringing this to our attention. As always, we encourage players to protect their accounts by not reusing passwords and using strong passwords, and not sharing account information with others."
Despite the security issues as of recently, the creator of Fortnite, Epic Games is said to have brought in $3 billion in profit last year, of course that includes profits from all games owned by the site. According to the Wall Street Journal, Epic Games is valued at nearly $15 billion.
In 2018 alone, Fortnite made $455 million from the Apple App Store and over $1 billion in overall revenue, according to Time.
So how does a free video game make billions of dollars?
Fortnite has over 200 million players who are basically addicted to the game. And although it is free to play, it isn't that easy to play and not spend money...
The game sells V-Bucks, which coast $9.99 for 1,000 and can be spent on customization items within the game. Players use them to buy emotes, which are dance moves, and skins, which are outfits and accessories. Players can also purchase Battle Passes, which unlock rewards based upon season. It's not rare to spend a fortune on Fortnite, in fact,70 percent of players make purchases within the game, averaging almost $85 in a year.
