While some residents of the U.S. see Canadians as beer-drinking, beaver-trapping hockey players, those characterizations are just stereotypes. Well, the first two anyway.
When a 50-to-70-car pileup in Quebec Tuesday forced police to shut down a huge stretch of the road in both directions, stranded motorists decided to pass the time by retrieving their hockey sticks from their trunks and engaging in an impromptu game on the ice-covered pavement.
A video that's surfaced online shows several people hitting a puck around while a police car, blocking the road from approaching drivers, is visible in the background.
