- Park West Gallery: Southfield is home to the largest privately-owned art gallery in the WORLD. Park West Gallery opened in 1969. Since then they’ve shared the experience of collecting fine art with more than two MILLION customers.
- Head Coach of the Detroit Red Wings, Jeff Blashill, calls Southfield home... Jeff is a homegrown Michigander, born in Detroit, Jeff’s nearly 20 years of coaching experience have all been right here in Michigan! Go Wings!
- Southfield was originally named “Town 1 north, 10 east” and was first organized as Ossewa Township on July 12, 1830, but the name was changed seventeen days later to Southfield Township. The township took its name from its location in the "south fields" of Bloomfield Township.
- Actress, Selma Blair, of Hellboy movie fame, was born in Southfield! Selma has been in a ton of TV shows and movies. In 2010 she earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Spoken Word Album for Children for her narration of the audiobook, The Diary of Anne Frank.
