If you remember back to 2017 when the Detroit Police Department allegedly investigated the incident, in which the alleged victim reportedly lost "two fingers and one testicle" due to attack squirrels, well the story is back.
The two-year-old story, which the police department called "fake news," continues to be shared on social media, even as recently as Wednesday, making the police department comment on it again.
A radio station in Ironwood, picked up the story and shared it to the social media. It was also shared by a "just for fun" Facebook page, Humor & Chitterlings, and generated 25 comments and 127 shares.
According to Snopes.com, a fact-checking website, the mugshot of the alleged attacker traced back to a Maryland woman who was arrested in 2014 for throwing bricks at windows.
The squirrel article was clearly labeled as "entertainment only." But that doesn't mean everyone recognized it as so.
The police department said Wednesday that they have been aware of the article and have laughed about it.
