You're the WCSX City of the Week*

*WCSX City of the Week is touring "way downriver" all this week with a City of the Day

Downriver factoids:

  • Rockwood is intertwined with the Huron River.  Boating, fishing and all things water.  In 1966, Rockwood  boys digging near the Huron River found Native American bones and artifacts that the University of Michigan placed around 500BC!
  • Lambertville was named after John Lambert who originally owned most of the land.  Lambertville is known for the Indian Creek Zoo offering close viewing of exotic animals!
  • Luna Pier was called “Lakewood” until the early 1900’s.  Luna Pier is known for its 800 foot crescent shaped pier and as a resort town.... lakefront scenery, small town atmosphere.
  • Monroe was called Frenchtown until it was renamed Monroe after President James Monroe in 1817.  It is home of the only War of 1812 national battlefield: the River Raisin National Battlefield Park.
