You can see that Starr is upset talking about the loss of his bandmate and friend. He even asks the interviewer to stop discussing Lennon's death but she continues.
Ringo Starr shared with Rolling Stone magazine the last time he saw Beatles bandmate alive was November 15th at New York's Plaza Hotel. The two discussed plans to return to the studio in January. "Then the a--hole appeared. There's no understanding it. The world lost a wonderful man", referencing Lennon's killer Mark David Chapman. Lennon was killed December 8, 1980, at the age of 40.
