John Lennon Once Saw A UFO Flying Over New York City
Some never-before-seen John Lennon memorabilia is going up for auction later this month, including a sketch he once made after spotting a UFO flying over New York City.
As the story goes, in August of 1974 Lennon looked out the window of his NYC apartment and saw a flying saucer hovering over the East River and screamed “wait, take me with you!”. He then made a crude sketch of the saucer along with a woman’s face, believed to be his ex-wife Cynthia.
Four more Lennon drawings, from his early days with the Quarrymen, are also up for auction, along with some of Lennon’s old science fiction magazines and a lock of his hair. The items will be auctioned off March 30th in L.A.
