Mount Clemens factoids:
- Mt. Clemens got the nick name “Bath City” from the numerous mineral spas that used to exist there. For more than a hundred years (1873-1974) tourism related to mineral baths was Mt. Clemens biggest industry. Clark Gable, Mae West, Babe Ruth and Jack Dempsey all went to Mt. Clemens for mineral baths.
- Wally Weber, University of Michigan football player, assistant football coach and Hall of Honor inductee.
- Mt. Clemens was first surveyed in 1795 after the American Revolutionary War by Christian Clemens. Clemens and his friend, John Brooks, built a distillery, which attracted workers and customers, helping to settle the area. The town was named after Clemens in 1818.
