Raccoon Break-In
What was first thought to be a home invasion ended up being a curious Raccoon…
On March 22th two officers were sent to a house in Allen Park on a report of a possible breaking and entering.
The homeowner told police she arrived home that evening to find the kitchen window open. The wooden window stopper was on the floor, along with miscellaneous items. At that point, she called 911.
Officers cleared the house and confirmed there was no one inside.
Well — at least no one of the two-legged variety.
They found a raccoon in a corner of the basement.
“It appears as if the raccoon gained entry of the home via the kitchen window,” an officer wrote in his report. “I did observe what appeared to be animal footprints all around the kitchen window.”
The resident said nothing was missing from her home.
A dispatcher attempted to contact Downriver Animal Control, but was unsuccessful.
Not wishing to share her living quarters with a raccoon, the homeowner said she would stay elsewhere for the night and call Animal Control in the morning.
