Listener Scott Freeman sent an awesome video into us of an old radio he found while in the attic of the Farmington Civic Theater…
The best part of this story is what radio station was still playing… Here is the story from Scott.
“On Friday, June 14, the Farmington Civic Theater retrieved a radio from the space between the ceiling and roof of our upstairs theater. We believe it was left there by a construction worker that was part of the team converting the balcony to a separate theater during a five-week period beginning in December 1989.
We first noticed the radio on June 4 when investigating some thermostat sensor wires. At that time, we couldn’t get that deep into the space. We couldn’t wait to see if the radio still worked and to what radio station it was tuned.
The radio was hung on an I-beam and connected to an extension cord that led to the access point for the space. When we plugged it in……
Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf!
Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
