Baby Jumping Festival

There are some traditions that shouldn’t be around anymore, including this odd event that takes place in Spain…
There’s a village in Spain that has a yearly festival where men dressed as devils jump over babies that are lying on mattresses. There are several mattresses lined up on a street and each one has a few babies on it.
The purpose is to drive away evil and cleanse the babies of their original sin. The devils also chase teens through the streets and spank them with a whip. Again, to drive away evil.
The festival’s been going on since 1620.
