If you were planning on going to this guys BBQ make sure you don't try the meat...

A guy in Tennessee tried to shoplift brisket and propane from Walmart . . . by shoving them down his pants. But two cops in the store caught him . . . and he tried to kick them, so he was arrested for assault on an officer.

There's a guy named John Honaker from Nashville, Tennessee and he went to a Walmart earlier this week, apparently to shoplift some supplies for a barbecue.

And that included him shoving BRISKET and two bottles of PROPANE down his pants.

Some cops just happened to be at the Walmart at the time investigating a different call . . . and they saw the entire thing go down on the security cameras.

So they grabbed John as he tried to leave the store . . . and he started trying to kick them.

He was arrested for assault on an officer.
