This weekend wasn't all fun in the sun for boaters out on Upper Straits Lake in West Bloomfield...

Someone flying a seaplane crashed into a group of boats on a sandbar around 5 p.m. We know one person was taken to the hospital but thankfully no serious injuries were reported.

“I thought it was a joke. I thought he was coming down and he was going to go back up. But he came down and he just came right into us," said one of the boaters who was hit. She wasn't hurt, but said one of her friends suffered minor injuries.

Witness Oscar Brown was on the sandbar nearby and captured the crash on his cell phone.

“As the plane came down, I just started noticing that plane isn’t stopping," Brown said.

The seaplane had two people, inside according to witnesses...

A spokesperson for the Carter County Sheriff's Department told USA TODAY Sports that Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s private plane crashed Thursday at a Tennessee airport, and the former NASCAR driver was transported to an area hospital. The airport where the crash occurred is located about 15 miles south of Bristol Motor Speedway, site of this weekend's NASCAR race. Earnhardt has been part of NBC Sports' NASCAR broadcast crew since he retired from full-time racing at the end of the 2017 season.
