New Restaurant, Bar, Gym Rules Announced for Oakland County
NEW ROCHELLE, NEW YORK - MARCH 11: Empty streets, restaurants and cafes make up the business area in the one mile containment zone on March 11, 2020 in New Rochelle, New York. New Rochelle, a city just north of New York City, has become the state's largest source of COVID-19 infections, prompting Governor Andrew Cuomo to announce Tuesday that officials will be implementing a one mile radius “containment area” there to try to halt the spread of Coronavirus. Oakland County has ordered that businesses where large groups come together — such as restaurants, bars, and gyms, and theaters — reduce their occupancy limits by 50% through April 5.
“This is a proactive step to ensure that our restaurants and other venues can provide our residents with safe environments and protect their employees,” Oakland County Executive David Coulter said. “We are committed to taking every necessary action to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Oakland County.”
The new rules are to help implement “social distancing” to reduce the rapid spread of Coronavirus.
