Hopcat Permanently Closes Royal Oak Location, But Hopes to Open in a New Building
In March, Michigan’s Hopcat temporarily closed all of its restaurants due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and now, the pub has announced that Hopcat’s Royal Oak location has permanently closed.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of our HopCat – Royal Oak location,” Hopcat stated on Facebook. “Unfortunately, after extensive negotiation with the landlord — with the goal of securing the location and employee jobs — we were unable to come to a reasonable agreement and the landlord has demanded we vacate the building.”
However, there is some good news.
Hopcat states they “will be seeking a new location in Royal Oak so we can resume serving this awesome community in the future.”
“We thank you for your loyalty and friendship over the years, the support and kind words many of you have sent our way the past few months during this crisis. We promise we will be back in Royal Oak at some point in the future,” they added. “So let’s not say goodbye, let’s just say ‘until we meet again.'”
