Florida Highway Patrol said a driver picked up a downed metal utility pole, strapped it to the roof of his Toyota Camry, and planned to sell it to a scrapyard.
The story gets a little odd when the old man seems visibly and honestly confused on why he is getting in trouble.
71-year-old Douglas Hatley, said he was trying to turn in the pole as scrap metal and that he had no idea that it was illegal to take the pole even if it was broken or down..
Hatley was arrested and taken to jail and charged with grand theft.
Do you think he should have been charged?
