Los Angeles Rams director of college scouting Brad Holmes has been tapped as the Detroit Lions' new general manager, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Holmes first interviewed with Detroit virtually on Jan. 6 and followed it up with an in-person interview Wednesday (Jan. 13).

Holmes is a North Carolina A&T grad with a major in journalism and mass communication. His full professional career has been spent with the Rams.

The Lions interviewed at least a dozen people for the opening, including their three internal candidates and former general managers Rick Smith of Houston, Thomas Dimitroff of Atlanta and Jeff Ireland of Miami.
