Red Rider was led by guitarist Tom Cochrane, who wrote Lunatic Fringe after reading about Raoul Wallenberg, who worked to free Hungarian Jews during World War II. The song is speaking out against the oppression of Jews in America. The master tape for the original song fell apart, so they decided to re-record it with a new intro, complete with Peter Wolf on the keyboard.
