Detroit Residents Age 60+ with Chronic Medical Conditions Now Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccine

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan announced Wednesday (Feb. 17) that Detroit is now giving COVID vaccination eligibility to all residents 60 and older who suffer from chronic medical conditions.

“Detroit is committed to making vaccines available to all our most vulnerable residents,” Duggan said in a statement. “People with diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or other chronic conditions have death rates from COVID far greater than the general population.”

The vaccine is now open residents 60 and older with one of the following underlying health conditions:

Cancer (current & in remission)
Asthma
Heart conditions
Hypertension
Sickle cell disease
Cerebrovascular disease
Chronic kidney disease
Pulmonary fibrosis
HIV
COPD
Type 1 or 2 diabetes
Alzheimer’s disease
Dementia
Cystic fibrosis
Cardiomyopathy
Liver disease
Dementia
Coronary artery disease

Detroiters can 313-230-0505 to make an appointment to get vaccinated at the TCF Center. Rides to and from the venue are also available for $2. Those who make an appointment will be required to show evidence of their condition upon arrival at the TCF Center.
