Is spring ever coming?

Yes. Yes, spring is coming, judging by nature's recent indication.

Earlier this week, a large piece of ice on the surface of Lake Michigan was caught breaking off near the Chicago shoreline in a time lapse video.

That's great news for those of us who have been fighting the freezing temperatures the past few weeks, especially during a time when outdoor activates are encouraged due to the pandemic.

By the way, even though it seems cold, this has actually been a warm year when it comes to ice on the Great Lakes. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, only 2.4% of surface of the lakes was covered by ice on Jan. 24, which is the least amount in almost 50 years.

Watch the time lapse video below.
