Isle Royale National Park is on target to open next month for the 2021 season.

Isle Royale was closed to the public for the majority of the 2020 season due to coronavirus (COVID-19), so this is great news for outdoor enthusiasts.

Some changes for the 2021 season include reduced capacities on the island’s ferries, reduced capacities in the park’s visitor centers, a reduction in interpretive programming and some differences in food service at Rock Harbor Lodge.

“Park staff and partners look forward to welcoming the public to the island during the 2021 season,” Denice Swanke, Isle Royale superintendent, said in a press release. “While park operations will be reduced and vary from offerings in past years, visitors will still have the opportunity for an excellent experience.”

The park will post updates on the 2021 season soon via their website and Facebook page.
