Throwback Thursday: Hall & Oates – She’s Gone
Hall & Oates – She’s Gone
Album: Abandoned Luncheonette
Released: 1973
“She’s Gone” was written by John Oates and Daryl Hall while they were consoling each other over heartbreaks. Hall had just divorced from his wife, and a date had stood up Oates. This is one of the duo’s favorite Hall & Oates songs. Daryl Hall told Entertainment Weekly “It’s very autobiographical. What we wrote about was real, even though it was two different situations. And it’s very thematic with us: this soaring melody and uplifting chord progression, but about a very sad thing.” The song charted #7 in the US and #42 in the UK.
