Henry Ford Health System has been selected to be the medical director for Detroit's mass vaccination site at Ford Field.

The site will open on March 24 and run from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., seven days a week, for eight weeks, according to a statement, under the federal government's vaccination pilot program.

The CDC’s priority tool was used to select Detroit's site, targeting populations that were hardest hit by COVID-19 and most vulnerable.

The site, which will be managed by the State of Michigan, will be able to give 6,000 vaccine doses each day. Starting Monday, area residents will be able to make appointments via Meijer.

Henry Ford Health System, in a statement, says it will offer onsite expertise and oversight , as well as support for the operations. They'll be the only Michigan health system offering support at the facility.

Other support partners for the mass vaccination site include the Federal Emergency Management Agency, City of Detroit, Ford Field, Wayne County, the Detroit Lions and Meijer.
