According to a new book, a man says between the 70s and 80s he lived in a secret homemade apartment inside of the old Veterans Stadium in Philly...

The book is called "The Secret Apartment: Vet Stadium, a surreal memoir," by Tom Garvey. Tom says that he was able to create his apartment after family members who worked in the area hired him to run the parking lots out front.

Tom said he refurbished a concession stand across from his office into the secret residence and held parties with Philly celebrities and fans.

"I was like a kid with a Willy Wonka golden ticket," Garvey told the Philadelphia Inquirer, who corroborated his story.

Tom got the idea for the book after he started telling the stories on social media during the pandemic as a way to lighten up his friends days.

Veterans was demolished in 2004, and Garvey says that he didn't want to take pictures for fear of getting caught,  the Inquirer was able to find some people willing to back up the stories, including Eagles Hall of Famer Bill Bradley.

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
