Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Department of Health has announced that crowds of up to 20% of capacity will be allowed at outdoor stadiums and arenas that exercise infection control.
The order allows the Detroit Tigers to accommodate more than 8,200 fans for their April 1 home opener, as well as the following games.
Under the former order, up to 1,000 fans were going to be allowed at games.
In comparison with nearby states, the Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates are also allowing up to 20% capacity. Ohio is allowing up to %30 capacity at the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians games. Wisconsin and Minnesota are allowing the Milwaukee Brewers and Minnesota Twins to have 25% capacity.
