Michigan Restaurants, Bars May Qualify for Federal Aid – Here’s How to Apply Starting Today
If you or someone you know works in the food and hospitality industry, make note that Michigan restaurants, bars and other food and drink establishments are now able to apply for federal aid via the Restaurant Revitalization Fund.
“Restaurant owners and other food establishments have made incredible sacrifices over the past year to keep their communities safe and slow the spread of COVID-19,” Governor Gretchen Whitmer stated in a press release.
She added, “This vital relief will help ensure they can keep their doors open and continue to serve their communities while also ensuring their workers can stay employed entering the critical summer season.”
The application opens today (May 3) at noon.
Businesses are able to apply online at restaurants.sba.gov or through SBA-recognized Point of Sale, or POS, vendors.
According to the State of Michigan, for the first 21 days, the Small Business Association of Michigan will prioritize businesses owned and controlled by women, veterans, and socially and economically disadvantaged people.
After the 21 days, funding will be given out on a first-come, first-served bases.
Eligible businesses are as follows: restaurants; food stands, food trucks, food carts; caterers; bars, saloons, lounges, taverns; brewpubs, tasting rooms, taprooms; breweries, wineries and distilleries; and bakeries.
