New Lions head coach Dan Campbell is already breaking norms, at least when it comes to his larger-than-life persona.

Earlier this year, he joked about wanting a pet lion for the Lions' Allen Park practice facility. (I mean, we're pretty sure he was joking.)

Then, last week, Campbell sported a Formula 1 helmet during a press conference, in which he was also announced to be the grand marshal of the Detroit Grand Prix.

Some people don't seem to get Campbell's humor. But, that doesn't bother him.

"Honestly, I’m not worried about it," he told the Detroit Free Press.

He added, "I mean, I get it. There again, my whole thing, it was kind of a joke. The helmet was sitting here, but it was also like, 'Hey man, it’s the Detroit Grand Prix. I think that would be a pretty cool deal for our people, our fans to see that,' and I think if I’m associated with the Grand Prix it’s like, 'Hey, man, that’s pretty cool.' So that’s really as far as it went."
