Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced a new initiative to get more Michiganders vaccinated by giving away $5 million through a vaccine lottery.

Michigan is teaming with Meijer for the vaccine lottery. Any Michigan resident who received a COVID-19 vaccine from December 1, 2020, through July 10, 2021, is eligible.

Prizes include a $1 million prize, a $2 million prize plus $50,000 in daily drawings. Michigan is also giving away thousands of dollars in scholarships.

Who can win the prizes?

Those who get vaccinated between July 1 and July 10 will be entered to win a $1 million prize. This is eligible for Michigan residents who are 18 or older.

Michigan is also giving away $50,000 every day between July 1 and Aug. 3, with the awards going to those who have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on the corresponding day.

The grand prize of $2 million is available to all Michigan residents who have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine between December 1, 2020, and July 30, 2021.

Michigan is also giving away nine $55,000 scholarships to those between the ages of 12 and 17 who have received a dose of the vaccine or will get one in July. For those scholarships, a parent or legal guardian must enter the eligible person.
