Tenement fires were much more deadly before Connelly invented an external metal staircase, the very first fire escape. In addition to saving lives, her invention also precipitated one of the first New York City building codes, which required residential buildings to have a secondary means of escape for emergencies.

Southern California firefighters had to help free a woman stuck upside down and naked between two buildings. Yes, you read that correctly...

Santa Ana Police Department officers were called to the area around 2 p.m. after workers at a nearby business heard the woman’s cries for help and weren’t sure where the sounds were coming from.

She was trapped inside a space just eight inches wide, according to firefighters.

Here is the story:

OCFA later tweeted she had been rescued... they had to pinpoint her location and then cut through 8 inches of concrete.  "After a cautious and technical operation, firefighters have gotten the victim out," OCFA tweeted at 4:30 p.m. "Our paramedics will be assessing her now."  The woman had no life threaening injuries and it's still unknown how she arrived there.

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
